Registration Periods

The Registration Period for season 2012/2013 opened on June 8, 2012. For players wishing to participate in the Welsh Premier League (and also all contract players) the Registration Period will remain open until midnight on August 31, 2012. The Registration Period for the Welsh Premier League will then re-open on January 1, 2013 and close again at midnight on January 31, 2013. The Registration Period for all remaining Leagues will be open from June 8, 2012 until midnight on March 28, 2013.

In conjunction with the FIFA Regulations for the Status and Transfer of Players, the FAW has recently implemented several amendments to its Rules concerning the Registration of Players. These amendments can be seen in the FAW Rules section of the website.

A further change to coincide with the start of the 2007/2008 playing season is the implementation of a central database for Player Registrations within Wales.

There are several areas relating to the Registration of Players that are under the remit of the Registrations section of the FAW including:

• Registering all contract (professional) players in Wales
• Registering all Welsh Premier League Adult, Youth and Academy players and Welsh Premier Women's League players
• Administering all transfers of professional players and minor (under 18) applications via the FIFA TMS database
• Processing all other International Clearance requests
• Liaising with FIFA and UEFA regarding updates to Rules and Regulations
• Liaising with all Leagues in Wales to maintain the running of the Central Registrations Database
• Advising Clubs and Players on any queries regarding the Rules & Regulations including FIFA and Domestic Training Compensation claims and PBS (Work Permit) applications
• Overseeing player agent applications as well as administering the FIFA Player Agent Exam

This section will be updated at regular intervals. In the Transfer section of the Player Registration Link a weekly transfer list will be available. There are also documents to download concerning Registration Examples and an application form to request international clearance.

At present, the central database is available to the FAW and affiliated Leagues within Wales. In the future, it is hoped to extend this to allow clubs access to their Player Registration Lists, Disciplinary matters and updated FAW Competition news and events.
